Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Balls (one per group)
  • Cones to mark the 40x30 yard area
Setup
  1. Area: 40x30 yard area marked with cones
  2. Team Red: 4 red outfield players start positioned at one end of the area
  3. Team Blue: 4 blue outfield players start positioned at the other end of the area
  4. Equipment: 2 balls (one per team), cones marking the corners of the 40x30 yard area
Instructions
  1. Teams pass the ball between players at each end, replacing the passer with the receiver every time.
  2. Players not in possession perform dynamic stretching, such as calf swings and lunges.
  3. Gradually increase stretching intensity leading to high-intensity lateral bounding exercises.
  4. Continue passing and movement until all players are warmed up and engaged.
Coaching Points
  • Ensure regular hydration during the warm-up.
  • Start gradually and increase intensity progressively.
  • Emphasize accurate passing and receiving technique.
  • Maintain good communication throughout the drill.
  • Monitor players' focus and body language.
  • Encourage continuous movement and active participation.
  • Highlight the benefits of proper warm-up for performance.
  • Integrate fun and relevant exercises when possible.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the space to increase passing difficulty.
2. Use only one touch per pass to enhance quick decision-making.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the space to allow more time for passes.
2. Allow two touches per pass to improve confidence and control.
3. Simplify the movements for players not in possession, focusing on basic jog and stretches.
