Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones
  • Two small goals
  • Footballs
  • Bibs or jerseys for team identification
Setup
  1. Area: 20x25 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: One small goal centred on each end line
  3. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts at their own end of the area
  4. Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the red team's goal
  5. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts at their own end of the area
  6. Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the blue team's goal
  7. Equipment: Cones marking the corners and boundary of the 20x25 yard area, one small goal at each end of the area, footballs, bibs or jerseys for team identification.
Instructions
  1. Start the match following standard football rules.
  2. If a player scores after a successful dribble, award their team double points.
  3. Encourage players to use various dribbling techniques and make quick decisions.
  4. Emphasize close control and using space effectively.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain close ball control while dribbling.
  • Use angles of support effectively to create space.
  • Apply quick decision-making to dribble, pass, or shoot.
  • Focus on quality of technique for beating opponents.
  • Accelerate quickly after beating an opponent.
  • Communicate and collaborate with teammates.
  • Protect the ball to retain possession and shield from opponents.
  • Aim for precise finishes when faced with a goalkeeper.
  • Practice dribbling with both feet.
  • Build confidence through successful dribbles.
  • Change direction swiftly if challenged.
  • Utilize deception to create shooting opportunities.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the size of the playing area to test stamina.
2. Reduce the number of players to create more 1v1 situations.
3. Mandate that goals only count if scored in fewer touches.
Make it easier:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area for easier control.
2. Play without goalkeepers to encourage more shooting opportunities.
3. Allow more time on the ball to promote dribbling confidence.
