Equipment
- Cones to mark the playing area
- One ball per player
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 1 red outfield player (minimum, scalable up) starting inside the area, each with a ball, spaced out across the area
- Coach: 1 grey coach acting as the 'jellyfish', starting inside the area without a ball
- Equipment: cones marking the corners/boundary of the 20x20 yard playing area
Instructions
- On the coach's signal, players dribble around the area.
- The 'jellyfish' moves to tag players while they attempt to evade.
- Tagged players exit the area and perform a chosen exercise (e.g., toe taps) before re-entering.
- Players continue dribbling and avoiding the 'jellyfish' for the duration of the drill.
Coaching Points
- Encourage players throughout the drill.
- Focus on close ball control to evade the 'jellyfish'.
- Maintain spatial awareness to avoid being tagged.
- Use various foot techniques for ball control.
- Adjust dribbling speed as needed.
- Ensure all players participate actively.
- Let the game serve as a natural teaching tool.
- Prioritize fun and engagement during the session.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area.
2. Increase the speed of the 'jellyfish'.
3. Introduce multiple 'jellyfish'.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area.
2. Slow down the 'jellyfish' movements.
3. Allow tagged players to perform simpler exercises before rejoining.
